Iowa Mission...

Today we started out for our annual Iowa Mission Trip. This year, i decided to bring my computer and blog a little about what goes on. I'm not sure if this will be an every night thing but we'll see.

Today started out EARLY! Kristi and I left the house about 6:30am to get to church. We were supposed to be at the church at 7:00. We ended up leaving around 8ish. We drove about an hour and half to Cookeville,TN and ate breakfast at Cracker Barrel. Back in the vans for another hour and half ride...bathroom break...An hour and half ride...lunch at Chick-fil-A. Nothing like the Christian Chicken on mission trip. Very fitting. Then back in the vans to our hotel in O'Fallon. We're actually staying about 15-20 mins east of St. Louis. Riding down I was in the white van....which was awesome! We had AC!!! It was 99 degrees!! The blue van's AC messed up and those guys had to sweat it out. We got it fixed so, hopefully all will be well. We're all pretty tired from the ride. Tomorrow we're looking at another long ride.

Be praying for us that God would open some doors for ministry this week!

July 4th Weekend!

This week has flown by. Monday and Tuesday I enjoyed with Kristi at home but on Wednesday and Thursday I had the opportunity to travel to Copperhill (i think), TN. It's where TN, NC, and GA all connect. It was a 2.15 mins from Knoxville. I rode down and led worship for Black Oak Heights student ministry. It was fun. I got home late Wednesday night at like 11:45. Thursday it was past midnight. I have a GREAT wife b/c she waited up on me! She even had to work on Friday and still waited up on me! I got to witness several people pray to receive Christ. It was awesome!

This weekend is the first weekend in a LONG time that i've not had anything to do. So, today Kristi and I drove to Pigeon Forge and hung out there. Then we had dinner at Blue Coast Burrito in Market Square. That place rocks! Market Square in Knoxville is awesome! Lookin' forward to church in the morning. Hoping to hit Kentucky Splash OR a swimming pool tomorrow and or Monday.

It has been awhile since I last posted in March. A lot has happened since then. The major thing happened May 21st...I got hitched! Life has been absolutely a blur since. Our lives are so busy! I'd love to start making some regular posts. Hopefully, i'll be transitioning into a new blog soon!!! I'm working hard towards that end. Hopefully there I can post more! More pics, more talking about life, etc. We settled in East Knoxville for now. It honestly wasn't the ideal side of town but, we're growing to like it. Its really not that bad and we've found it to be convenient to pretty much anything we need. This marriage thing is going well. I mean we're a little over a month in and we're still adjusting nicely. After NOT sharing a bed for 28 almost 29 years...that transition has been quite entertaining. We had our first major storm here in Knoxville that scared us to death. At 1:30am a tornado decided to roll through town. A text message woke me up and gave me the news. That made for a rough night! We never lost power yet i ran through the house with a flashlight in hand and the lights out. Kristi laughed awhile over that.

Since my last post, we made the news because of some serious storms that came through. our church lost our steeple...our pastor made the national media on several outlets. It was pretty cool.We just launched last week into our summer schedule with the student ministry at Belmont Heights. This summer we'll be doing multiple cookouts, Iowa mission trip, Six Flags, and tubing at Deep Creek. On top of that schedule...read below. Actually, music wise....check the side and see where i'll be.

I'm still playing with LIFE WIDE OPEN and playing a few select worship places. God continues to use this band and this ministry for His Glory. I'm honored to be a part of it. God continues to open up crazy random doors for Kristi and I and its awesome. I'll leave you with a few pictures from our honeymoon. We were blessed to have been able to go somewhere neither of us had ever been, Cancun Mexico. We had a blast and it was absolutely beautiful.

Music, Engagement, & Life!

I had the opportunity to play with LIFE WIDE OPEN at Ridgecrest Conference Center two weekends ago. I grew up right down the road from there and I had never been to Ridgecrest. Well, ok so I moved to Knoxville, TN over three years ago and took the youth group there when I first started to the same conference. It’s crazy that four years ago I was watching LIFE WIDE OPEN and then this year I was playing with them and leading worship! This place is absolutely beautiful. God has His hand on this place! It was probably a highlight of my music ministry. I’ve been involved with music for years and this was an amazing experience. I’ve recorded my own EP, led worship for churches, revivals, etc. I had the privilege of leading worship in Poland to 15 people and this particular weekend in front of 1200 people. Those two experiences will be remembered for a LONG time. It was a surreal experience seeing these students lay down their pride and worship God with reckless abandon. They did not care about the people around them and worshiped God. There were over 40 churches that were present. God moved greatly that weekend. I will post pictures soon. The music front is still going strong. We’ve had several radio stations across the country pick up our second single “No Other Love”. To all those in radio land…we THANK YOU for picking this song up. The story of this song is that we often look for love and acceptance in so many places. I am engaged and that is a “special” kind of love. It doesn’t even compare to the love that God gives. I’ll be doing two radio interviews this week with KVCO in Camdenton, MO and with WWIB in Chippewa Falls, WI. Should be fun!

The engagement is still going great. The planning is going great! Well, from my standpoint. Kristi is feeling a ton of pressure and I can totally understand. This is the big day that we’ve both waited for and I know she wants it to be perfect. She’s doing a good job. Her dress is purchased, location, and details have been finalized. The HONEYMOON is purchased!!!! I can’t wait to marry that woman! We started our pre-marital counseling last night. It was interesting but for us to actually sit down and talk about these questions was a highlight for me. I enjoy hearing how God is making us holy through our engagement and will do so in our marriage. The goal of a successful marriage or one of the goals (I’m sure there are many) is to have a right relationship with God. Bottom line, we’re both excited to “do” life together. I know for fact that we both want God to greatly use us. We want to be available and willing to do and go where ever He sends us. We want our lives to have an eternal impact.

I just want to say that I serve with some amazing people at my church. God continues to blow my mind. Our young adults are growing and it is so encouraging to see. People are coming to know Christ through this ministry! Go EVE!!!!! Lives and marriages are being changed and transformed. Our student ministry is plugging right along as well. The students are still clicking with me which is great! It allows me to be an influence in their lives. We still have a ways to go, but we’re getting there! Life in Christ is a journey and a process. On a bright note, our pastor baptized one of our students this past week along with his daughter!!!! God is moving in our church! Honored to serve alongside of him and the staff, deacons, and volunteers at a church!

Waffle House, Music, and Engagement

Ok, so the three don’t really go together although they could. Just not in this blog post. I felt it was fitting to update on some things.

Music Side: I’ve moved over to playing acoustic guitar for the band. It’s a position that I’m really enjoying because I’m much more confident in playing guitar!! On top of that, I’m starting to sing some lead vocals. I’m pretty excited about that. We’ve been practicing a lot here lately and that’s in large part to us playing one of the biggest shows of the year for the band. We’ll be at Ridgecrest Conference Center this weekend. It’s also going to be the largest crowds I’m playing in front of. It’s estimated that there will be over 1200 people there. It should be a fun time! Our second single has gone out to radio about two weeks ago. Things are going well on this front!

Waffle House: SO, after practice this past weekend…I thought it would be nice to meet my roommate to eat at Waffle House. He always wants to eat there. I ordered one of their 15 meals for under 5 bucks…sounds good? I ordered 3 scrambled eggs w/ cheese (which didn’t look like 3) and hash browns. It tasted great b/c I was super hungry and hadn’t really ate anything all day. 2 am rolls around. TORTURE!!!! I’ve never had food poison but this thing killed me. It’s something I don’t wish on anybody. NO WAFFLE HOUSE FOR ME!

Engagement: Things are moving along quite nicely. We’re coming up on our first wedding shower. I’m quite excited about it. Our honeymoon has been picked. We know what were going to do. We’re both excited to be getting out of the country and going on a little adventure! This whole process of the engagement has been really a God thing. I’m simply amazed at what all He is doing in our lives. He’s growing us, strengthening us, and leading the way. It’s been quite humbling. I’m anxious to see where He leads.

Its been quite awhile since my last post. Three and half month is a little too long. I know this and if you regularly check my blog. I'm sorry for letting you down. A lot has happened w/ me over the last few months and so i'll try my best to do a recap. All you need to know is that my life since August has been quite crazy!

I've been blessed to be apart of the band LIFE WIDE OPEN. This is a regional band based out of Maryville, TN. Since September I've played in roughly 9 concerts with the guys. We put on a Christmas "tour" this year. It was a first for the band and I can honestly tell you that it was one of the coolest things i've ever been apart of. (below are a few photos). We have enjoyed some radio success and it's been neat to be apart of the whole process. Our second single will be going to radio in early Feb. I'm excited about what happens through it.

All that is pretty exciting, HOWEVER, on Christmas Eve I asked my bestfriend for her hand in marriage. and she said YES!!!!! That's right folks, i'm gettin' hitched! I can tell you that it was certainly of the Lord. He spoke (almost audibly) to me and I jumped on the opportunity. To say that the week leading up to Christmas was intense for me is an understatement. We are super excited about it. I know some of you are wanting to know how i did it so here's the story....

Kristi is into photography and so i had made a small 4X4 hardback book at Wolfe Camera. It had photos of us. 15 + photos. I gave her this book in her driveway and I asked her to go page by page and tell me where we were in each photo. The very last page had the words "WILL YOU MARRY ME?" That was my cue, i hit a knee and asked. She was completely shocked. That's what I was going for and it worked. We have set a date of May 21, 2011. Yes, thats the same date the rapture is supposed to occur. We know. We thought about moving it up a day, but changed our minds. I mean really>?? NOBODY can pick that event but its just funny that, that is the day we picked and that is the same day that these nuts think the rapture is going to occur. None the less, we're hard at work on it. We're super excited and would love for you to pray for this.

Lastly, I just want to brag on our church. What i have witnessed in the last month in our church is nothing short of a GOD. I mean, He's working hard in the lives of our Young Adults (18-30ish). We have launched a weekly event called CONNECT. Its purpose is to just fellowship and we have a small devotion. We're averaging 28 people. We've also launched small groups. Kristi is teaching the ladies. There are so many women involved that she has two groups. We also have 12 guys that are coming to the mens small group. I mean, if you knew these people its pretty crazy. I'm super proud especially of these guys. Please pray for this group of people. So thankful for our leadership and i'm excited to see what the Lord allows us to do.

Three years!!!

“Today is the day that You have made I will rejoice and be glad in it.” Those are the lyrics to Lincoln Brewster’s song. I’ve come to know those words well recently. You and I can’t live in the past. It doesn’t do any justice. The past is but a memory. A memory for some that is good and for some that is bad. I was sharing with my students last night that our testimony is simply: OUR story. It’s a story that God has uniquely crafted. It’s a story that the Master has crafted and has inter-twined our lives with His life. So, as we share our STORY we need to remember that is extremely personal and unique to us. Nobody has ever walked in your steps or experienced the same things that you have. Today I’m thankful for my past but I’m rejoicing in my future.

My story took an unexpected turn three years ago today. Three years ago, I uprooted from everything that was familiar to me. I left the comfort of my family, my church, and many of my friends. It was difficult but at the same time it was probably one of the greatest things I had ever done. Talk about being independent, which I’m normally not. At least I don’t think I am. Moving to another state has forced me to grow up. It had forced me to become a man and figure things out on my own. Moving to Knoxville has opened me up to a whole new family I never had or experienced. I had said before that I wanted to become involved in a church family that desired to know God intensely. While, as a whole our church isn’t there…but there are certain individuals that are at that point and I consider it an honor to work, learn, and serve with these soldiers for Christ. I’m thankful for the church family that I have that allows me to pursue the things that I’m passionate about, a church that sits in my corner and cheers me on. I am thankful for the volunteers that I have that labor with me as we try to reach the students that sit under our leadership. What a tremendous responsibility and honor. VOLUNTEERS, thank you thank you thank you!

I have a great roommate here in Knoxville. It’s a guy that challenges me in my walk. He isn’t your normal guy. He’s a little odd at times but he Loves Jesus. I can honestly say there isn’t another person on this planet like this guy. If you guys know Micah, you know that he’s certainly unique. I’m blessed to have a roommate like this guy. I’m also grateful for the young lady I’m currently dating. I’ve been seeing Kristi for a little over a year now. I know that while it’s been challenging (which EVERY relationship is challenging) it has been worth it. I think she is my biggest fan. She knows the things I’m passionate about and she cheers me on. What more could I ask for! She has a huge heart for Jesus and wants nothing more to serve Him and share Him with others. I joked the other day that, we went to a Christian bookstore and she didn’t drift to the devotionals, Christian living, music, or women’s section…OH NO, straight to theology. That’s hot! So, Thank you Kristi!

In the last year, I’ve been around the world and to the Midwest in the name of Christ. I’ve had the honor of leading worship in various settings. From a Youth Conference w/ a Southern Gospel radio station, to a group of teenagers in the middle of Iowa who wanted a deeper relationship with God. I’ve led our church in worship on Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings. I’ve shared the stage with the band “Life Wide Open”. I’ve seen my music “Kevin Cabe” continue to be played on Christian Radio. I’ve had the honor of seeing “Life Wide Open’s” music hit radio station nationwide. I have so much to be thankful for in the past 3 years and then most recently. I will be playing with them in October. We are preparing Christmas music for our Christmas Tour. If you are in the Knoxville area I hope you can make it out. Please call and request our music.

I was challenged recently challenged by a statement Steven Furtick made…”If the vision for your life isn’t intimidating to you, then it’s insulting to God.” Whoa, what a statement. I have NO clue what the future holds for me…but I know who does hold it. Will I be in Knoxville in another three years…I can’t answer that. But, I can say that I’m going to continue to serve Him and stay faithful.

Quick update!
This past week…well the last 2 weeks have been crazy! As you know, I’ve joined Life Wide Open which I’m pretty excited about. I had one month which was like 5-6 practices to be caught up to speed for my first show. I learned 16 songs. I’m playing bass guitar and singing bgvs for them. For the last 2 weeks my days began at 6:45am with work and then not getting home until late. Its been very tiring on top of my other responsibilities.

Saturday morning I was asked a few months ago to lead worship for Praise 96.3 at the Sevierville Civic Center for a Youth Conference. I had a blast with them. For those of you outside of Knoxville…Praise 96.3 is a Southern Gospel radio station. If you know me, I’m NOT southern gospel. I did a show a year ago and got to know the DJ and he became a fan and friend. So, that event was helping him out. There were close to 200 people there and they responded well to this ol’ contemporary guy. When the rubber meets the road it doesn’t matter if its Southern Gospel, Rock, Contemporary, or whatever genre…we’re about the Savior and that’s what matters. I had a great time with them!

I left there and headed over to Maryville to meet Mike (lead singer) and head down to Benton. Benton is about 2 hours south of Knoxville. We played at Camp Agape. It’s in the middle of nowhere but there were quite a few people that showed up. Sound check was a bit surreal for me b/c I’d never done anything quite like that. Once 7:30 rolled around, we were ready to go. The crowd was excited. There was even crowd surfing in our early songs which were pretty rocking. It was pretty awesome. I can say that was a great experience. The guest speaker was a SUPER nice guy. It was Aaron Smalls former pitcher for the New York Yankees. Great guy and Great testimony!

I'm excited to let you guys know whats been going on with me and music the last few weeks. I was contacted by a local band in Knoxville called Life Wide Open. Through a series of events and meeting some people, the Lord has opened the door for me to join this band. The video above is the guys at a show this year. My first time out with them will be this Saturday in Benton TN. The guys in this group love the Lord and are all about worship which is awesome! Jan, Feb, and March we have some great conferences coming up that we will be apart of.

Iowa Trip Unwind..

Wow, what a week. My journey began July 22nd (Friday) flying from Knoxville to Memphis then to St. Louis. I met my church/youth group there and traveled to Iowa for a week of ministry. I saw God move in some great ways. This church/community is tucked in around corn and soy bean fields. If you close your eyes for a minute you would have passed through this community. We arrived Saturday in Iowa and the people were ready for us. On Sunday, this church typically averages around 15-20 (that’s a rough guess give or take a few). That Sunday morning there 40-50+ people. Our first ministry opportunity came in the form of a marriage conference. We wondered how many people would show up b/c there weren’t that many couples in the church to begin with. There were 11 couples that showed up! Several couples do not even go to church and they showed up which was huge!

The Youth Revival kicked off and was awesome! This group averages around 15-20 normally. We packed the place out with 75 people…and that was our average for the revival. One night we saw 90 people there. This place is small but God showed up. I had the privilege of leading worship for this group. I could tell they were hungry for music. They were hungry for God. There was no movement until the third night which is when it typically happens in situations like this. I could literally see people holding on to pews not wanting to move forward. Teenagers flooded the alter this night. One girl finally moved that the church had been praying for. Our church had been praying for her. That night, that girl found hope. She found a Savior to place her trust in. As the service ended, people began to leave…another girl who sat beside the one who had just been saved was still seated and was emotional. Our pastor approached her and asked if she needed to talk to someone and she said yes. My girlfriend began talking with her. The girl said that, “that night was the first time she had been in church in three years”. That night, the second girl found hope. Both girls came empty and searching and didn’t really know what they were searching for but they found a Savior. How AWESOME!

VBS for the week went great as well. Our teams in both communities worked really hard. We averaged 45 kids for our efforts. To see so many kids there was awesome. These kids remembered us from last year. They just needed to be loved on for the week and we did just that. Our group grew together (which we needed) and our group grew in the Lord (which we needed). I was thankful to be apart of this trip.

A crazy way God moved on this trip. There is a man in the church in Iowa who is a pig farmer. He’s an older man. He came to us on Wednesday night and said, “God has told me to tell you to check your fluids before you leave” SO, first thought was…alright…then GREAT, something is gonna happen. This was on Wednesday. On Thursday around noon another man in the church noticed our van was leaking some sort of fluid. Come to find out, it was the water pump and we took it to a shop and it took the mechanics 2 extra hours on Thursday to stay after work and get this fixed (we left the next morning!). This was nothing but a God thing!

My schedule should slow down but it doesn’t. If some cool news I’ll be sharing in a week or two. My schedule will be picking up. This is good but just makes juggling life a little harder. I’m excited about what God is doing. He is moving and working in my life. I’m just hoping I don’t screw it up.

The craziness is about to begin…again. Ministry for me goes in spurts. This further proves, that ministry is not a sprint, but a marathon. Summer always busy for ministers. This summer, for me has been brutal with busyness. For those of you that don’t know, I’m bi-vocational. I have two jobs. One full-time and I work at my church on a part-time basis. The church is really good to me. But, mix that in with a music ministry, personal life, and chill time. It gets very hectic. I know this sounds like I’m complaining, but I’m not. I am thankful. It seems I live from event to event. My schedule for the next few weeks is below

God of a Second Chance!

We serve a God of second Chances. I’ve been hearing this phrase a lot lately. Its been tweeted and facebooked a lot. I believe there is an organization about it. As I have been going over this idea that we serve a God of second chances…its made me think. I taught this past Sunday on this idea out of the book of Jonah. Jonah is an interesting character. As children this is one of those stories that we read about and think..”oh he was in a whale”. Well, there are several themes in this book that we often and I stress often forget.

The book opens with Jonah running away from God. Most of us have ran away from God. Jonah, specifically ran from his calling. God called him to go to Ninevah and preach against it. Jonah, a prophet of God thought he could RUN AWAY from God. This is hilarious. We can NEVER run away from God. He is everywhere and we can’t escape that fact. Because of his disobedience, it caused him to be in a world of trouble. A storm came, threatened the boat he was on, and forced the other men to throw him off the boat. Jonah then finds himself in the stomach of a great fish or whale. Jonah then prays inside the fish. This is an interesting time for a prayer meeting? That’s just like Christians today. Pray when we need God to deliver us. The great thing is that we serve a God that listens to our prayers and answers us. In HIS way and in HIS TIMING.
Best verse in the book comes from Jonah 3:1-3…The word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time and he responded. That’s grace! That’s how and why we serve a God of Second Chances. Jonah didn’t want to go to Ninevah. He hated the people there. Jonah knew that if he went to Ninevah, did what the Lord told him to, that God would have mercy on them and not bring destruction. He was right. The Lord ended up not bringing the destruction to them. God was concerned about them. Jonah was angry and the book ends with the Lord asking him a question. We don’t know Jonah’s response. I believe we don’t know because it allows us to make a response to the book.

Are we going to be people of Grace. Grace has been extended to us. Who can you extend grace to?

Summer is here!

Summer is officially here. Summer is normally a time to slow down and gear up for the fall complete with sermon prep, sermon series, and ministry events. Well, in student ministry, its normally a busy time. With my current church we are on full steam ahead with summer activities. Its fun but its also very tiring. I just finished our VBS at our church. We had a great turnout! The youth, for whatever reason, comes out strong for this. I remember growing up going to VBS as a student and it was NOT a cool thing. But, these kids show up. We rent out an elementary school for the youth. Why? Because they really come out for this! That ran from Sunday Night-Friday night. Sunday, I preached for the church. It was a lot of fun. Preaching is not my calling. I have NO desire to pastor for this reason. I don’t like preaching. But, I did it. I don’t mind filling in but it was fun and God moved. I preached on the book of Jonah. The theme was simple….We serve a God of Second Chances!

I’m excited to be meeting with a pastor today actually to consult on church growth. For whatever reason, this pastor wanted to sit and talk church planting and I’m more than willing. I enjoy talking church and growth. There is no ONE formula but it’ll be fun. The interesting thing, it’s a completely different denomination than I am. Should be fun and I’m looking forward to it. I’ll be leading worship this Wednesday (tomorrow), followed by a youth event Friday, leading worship Sunday, and then next Wednesday. Iowa Trip is coming! Can't wait to lead worship and minister in Iowa!

Summer update!

The summer is here! I love this time of year but its hot! This pasty white boy has to bathe in sunscreen. Not really, but it’s been pretty hot here in Knoxville. It’ll only get hotter. I swimming the other day (twice actually) and had a blast with that. With the summer also comes a busy schedule. Our church has taken Sunday nights off, however, that appears to be really busy even though we have taken time off. Our youth group recently went to laser port in Pigeon Forge for several hours. We played laser tag, putt-putt, and go karts for hours! They really enjoyed that and so did I! That’s a fun part about student ministry not only do you do things the students like but you do events that you like as well! Our vacation bible school is about to start in less than a week. This week is the calm before the storm. Sunday night we’ll have several hundred kids come and participate. I will be preaching and leading worship several times over the next few weeks which will also keep me busy. That’s a good thing though. Our student ministry will also be heading back to Iowa in late July for a mission trip. Kristi left for Malta several days ago. I had no clue where that was, but it’s a small island south of Italy for a mission trip. It’s been quiet and boring since she’s been gone. Please say a prayer for me over the next few weeks as I do have a lot going on and that I can focus on all that’s going on in my crazy and busy life.

I had the opportunity to play at IPraise 2010, an independent Christian music festival in Forest City, NC. I had blast that day. This was a first annual event for Krucifyed Ministries. David Coffin and team did a fantastic job with this event. I played alongside of artists and groups from all over the country including Colorado, New Jersey, Florida, NC, TN, GA, WV, and SC. You can see some shots of Justin and I leading from the main stage.
Next up for me, I’ll be heading to Chattanooga to Origin Church soon, Iowa in July, NYC in the fall, and Pigeon Forge TN in August. I lead weekly at Belmont Heights Baptist Church in Knoxville on Wednesday nights @ 7:00. Come out if you can! I wish I could settle down and breathe a bit but I’ve got a full schedule with church as well. I’ll be officiating my first wedding at the end of this month! Break out the suit for that one. Should be fun.

What’s God been teaching you?

That was the question that was posed on Wednesday night. Various people in our church began to share there answers out loud. He is certainly moving among people in our church which is great and exciting. I wasn’t forth coming in my response b/c I wanted to honestly think about it. I could have thrown a random answer out there and made myself look good. The truth is, I’ve been thinking about that for awhile.

God has certainly been working my life in crazy ways. I have prayed for things to open up on the music end and God is providing places to play. Those things are starting to come through and that’s been exciting. I haven’t solicited them but they are coming. Actually, I was to the point where I said “Lord I’m really sick of leading worship and playing guitar.” Then God would provide more places and opportunities and really just get me excited about worship and leading worship and performing. I have a lot of opportunities coming up, in that area and its crazy. I am playing a BBQ Festival, church services in NC, Chattanooga,TN my home church, a student conference in Pigeon Forge, an Independent Christian Music Festival-IPraise 2010 in Forest City NC, Lacona Iowa, and most recently in NYC.

On top of that, after participating in Experiencing God with our church I’ve really been looking into all the places God is working and moving and wanting to jump and join him. Its absolutely crazy to think that God pursues a love relationship with us. How can we NOT get involved. How can we not roll up our sleeves and get busy. I think God is sick of us side-line Christians. Lets do something! Lets get involved. Lets get plugged in! Who is with me?!?!

Things are about to get busy!I will be playing at West Lonsdale Baptist Church tomorrow night (Wednesday).
This weekend I will be heading to Clyde, NC and playing a BBQ Festival in my hometown. I’m excited about that. I have yet to really do anything in my hometown which is sad. You would think that would have been the first place I would start but, it hasn’t happened that way. I will be playing a BBQ Festival that goes to benefit Broyhill Childrens Home. For more info on them check out http://bchfamily.org/ I will also be leading worship at Ninevah Baptist Church. Pastor Mike Leslie invited me and I’m pretty excited about that. If you are reading this from NC you should be able to find a write in the Mountaineer www.themountaineer.com/ on Wednesday in the Guide. I did an interview with them a few weeks back.
May 8th I will be heading to Forest City, NC and playing IPraise 2010. This is an outdoor Christian Music Festival featuring two stages. I’m pretty excited and nervous about this. Artists are literally coming from all over the country for this show. People from Texas, Colorado, New Jersey, Florida, Tennessee, West Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. I’m slated to go on around 8:00 just before the main act (which is crazy!) This will be a great opportunity to showcase some music and promote the real reason we are there. Its not music, its not selling Cds, its pointing people to the cross and to a God who is wanting a relationship with them. Please be in prayer!
I will also be heading to back to Chattanooga again in the future as well as playing my first Student Conference in Pigeon Forge. Things on the music end are going fairly well. My church has been great and supportive of my musical adventures. Its funny how God works. I will go through a phase where I don’t even want to touch the guitar and its like God sparks things by providing me opportunities to play and I get excited again. I love leading worship and I love leading at my church.

Thing are going well as far as the dating scene goes. I've been dating a wonderful lady since September and things are going great! Her name is kristi and you can check out her page @ www.kristibreeden.blogspot.com She keeps me busy as well. I'm thankful for her.

This summer is going to be jammed packed with a mission trip and things going on at my church so, that should carry me through the summer. I think God has big things planned for our church if we will just jump on board and go with Him. I look forward to seeing what He does.

Easter 2010

I don't blog enough. I know, i should do it more. I still have people that check this blog out so, for that I apologize. Here's an update.

Easter 2010 @ Belmont Heights was pretty awesome! Our attendance was up, like most churches. Our pastor knocked it out of the park. I believe he preached his guts out. It was plain and it was simple. Christ......the Cross....Empty Tomb....Resurrection...Hope! It was great. It was awesome to read about the churches from around the country and the services they had. 16,000 people attended newspring church, over 11,000 attended Elevation Church....over 50,000 (i think) attended Saddleback. I mean crazy numbers, crazy decisions around the country. Its my hope that we can treat every Sunday like its easter sunday.

I must admit, going to work was hard today. After the adrenaline rush of the weekend activities, i was drained today. That tends to happen. All is well in East Tennessee. I have a busy few weekends coming up. Lookin' forward to being in NC for a BBQ Festival as well as Ninevah Baptist Church and Ipraise2010 in Forest City, NC.

Goals!

So, i made a new goal for 2009. I'm not calling it a resolution b/c those fail! So, i'm calling it a goal. Anyway...the first one is to eat healthier...and lose weight in the process. The program i'm doing isn't that bad...yet. I'll let you know later.

The goal I am most excited about is reading through the Bible in 90 days. I must say, 90 days is intense. I've never read it cover to cover yet! So, 90 days is crazy. I tapped into Youversion.com for some assistance. I started Jan.1 and i'm in Exodus with it now. I still have a ways to go. The crazy thing though, since i started it, i can tell the enemy is really attacking me. Things that didn't used to bother and such are really getting to me. I know the enemy doesn't like the fact that I'm reading the Word....but its cool. He will lose anyway!

We started small groups at church. Those seem to be going well. I'm pretty satisfied with that. Check back later!

2009 in Review..

As we are about to close out 2009 I think it's fitting to update you guys on what's been happening in my life and what this year has looked like. I'm still living in Knoxville, and God has been good to me once again....He NEVER lets you down.

In early 2009 I felt led to begin working on my first CD. In early Feb. that process began. It was fairly lengthy but that comsumed half of the year. In between work (at the bank) and the church leading worship and doing student ministry, I was making trips to Nashville to work on this project. It was completed in July 3rd. I launched my website www.kevincabe.com to finish out this project. I had the privilage of traveling a bit in support of it. i made some great contacts throughout the process. I had 2 of my songs played on Knoxville's largest Christian radio station as well as stations in Ky, NC, and Minn.

I was able to travel to Orlando for a long weekend in Feb for a break and some fun! In May, several people from my church went to Destin, FL for a week long vacation. In June we had a great VBS with our church. In July, I was able to see one of my best friends get married and sing in his wedding in NC, hopped a plane the next day for Des Moines, Iowa and led worship for a week in Lacona, Iowa. Caught a St. Louis baseball game on the way home. Soon after returning from Iowa (less than a month) I headed to Poland for a mission trip. Saw the Lord move greatly! Had a great time. I began dating a woman from my church on that trip which leads us to today. Things are going well there so be in prayer. My bank job is going well and the church is going strong.

I'm looking forward to 2010 and seeing what God has in store. If i can be of any assistance to you or your family, let me know. If I can lead worship or speak at your church, please pass my name along.

remember that game? well...I have never had the flu until now!!! Actually, i'm recovering. One week ago (Tuesday) I woke up with the chills and body aches and coughing my head off. I knew something was wrong...later found out i was runnin' a fever and I was headed back home. I was out ALL last week! Thank the Lord for sick days! I've never had the flu and never want to feel that way again!

So, i'm recovering now and slowly gaining my strength. I'm excited about the weekend. Its a 3-day weekend which means, i may have plans! I will be doing something..just not sure what yet.

Man, what a busy past couple of weeks. In some ways, I still feel like i'm recovering from the Poland trip. As soon as i returned from Poland, there was no rest. I played several different things. It was good to play the Tennessee Valley Fair. I had a great time and what a great opportunity to get out there and introduce some people to my music. Man, i'm a blessed guy! I led at my church as well which is always fun. Then, I led at Cades Cove Fellowship in Maryville, TN. I had a great time with those folks too. Very kind people.

Ah man, busy few weeks coming up too. I'm leading worship at Middlebrook Pike Baptist Church in Knoxville for a youth event (10/3 @ 7pm). You should come! I am certainly looking forward to my long weekend in Oct. I'm going somewhere..dont know where but i'm going! God is doing some neat things in my life thats for sure. I'm hoping to begin writing for my next EP soon!! I hope you guys are doing well. Please drop a line and say hello!

Well, i have a few days to catch up on...Sunday was a pretty cool day. Worship in the morning was great. It was neat to hear the Polish people singing hymns in their language, while we knew the tunes they were doing as well. Travis sang a solo, I sang two songs in worship, Kristi B gave her testimony and Josh preached on John 3:16. After we had the service, we had coffee/tea and "sweets" there. They meet in a school so we ate there with everybody that was there. It was cool. We had no activities planned that day. Josef's son and his family came for lunch and hung around all day. We just walked around and hung out on Sunday.

Monday
Monday we woke up early and were back in the schools. We sat through 3 classes again. We go into the classes and share alittle about ourselves and what we do in KNoxville. THen when we run out of stuff to talk about, we break into smaller groups and talk. This one classes remembered me being there with my guitar. One of the guys was in a punk rock band so i went and talked to his group. This guy was nailing me on.."What is a worship leader"...this is the same guy last year that asked me "what is the inspiration for your music?" I loved it. I think he is hungry for something more, just doesn't know it. After the classes were finished we came back and hung out and shopped until later that night. WE showed the movie "Mary Magdeline" It was in polish so for us americans it was torture...but we knew what was going on b/c it was Mary's take on Jesus' life. BUt, for the 4 people that gave their life to Christ...it was worth the trip!! Pray for us today as we meet the Mayor, go back into the schools, and show the film again tonight!

BBQ at the beach!

Yesterday (Friday) was a great day. We were in the schools early in the morning and in the English classes. Everybody in the other classes seem to ask alot of questions about Travis. They seem to remember him the most. After sitting through three english classes we went back to our apartment and hung out.

We ate some good food. We have great hosts! They are feeding us well. We had potatoes and this pork/rice thing rolled up in cabbage...It was really good! From there we went into the city to pass out flyers advertising what was going on this week. We had some people tell us no and one even ripped the flyer up in front of us. However some said thanks as we passed. The language thing really stinks b/c some start to ask questions and we just have to walk away b/c we can't communicate with them.

We went to our first organized outreach which was a bbq in the park. We grilled hamburgers. Surprisingly, we had over 100 people attend this event! It was pretty exciting. All is well here and we are looking forward to another day here!

WOW, i'm tired. we left Newark, NJ about 6:10 Wednesday night. The flight wasn't that bad. We didn't sleep at all. ONce we landed in Berlin, it took us 45 mins to get out of the parking garage...yea, pretty funny on that. Then we get lost leaving Berlin. We arrived in our city and had a great meal. Now, we're all dead tired and waiting until 6:00 Poland time (noon in america) to go and pass out invitations. Its RAINING here which stinks. Pray for good weather! We will be going into the schools tomorrow.

Well, God has been good lately. Iowa was successful and now onto Poland. There is a team of 7 of us going. We leave today at 2:00PM from KNoxville TN to Newark NJ..WE leave Newark at 5:50 and arrive in Berlin Germany. We will then travel to Poland and begin our ministry there. Missions! Franklin, NC-Iowa-Poland!

It's been a crazy week and half. I went home to my bestfriends wedding. I had the privilage of singing and being a groomsmen in his wedding. It was held at Lake Junaluska and was just awesome! After his wedding, i headed back to Knoxville and flew out the next day to Des Moines, Iowa. My flight originally scheduled to leave at 12:15 had been canceled! I haven't flown much but I was almost in a panic but the friendly folks of Northwest/Delta were great to work with. I was supposed to go to Memphis and then on Iowa, but I had been switched to Detroit and then Iowa. Which was fine. I went through that airport back in the fall so it was no big deal.

The week in Iowa was awesome. We saw 6 salvations and we baptized 3 people. It was pretty sweet. I had the opportuntiy to play some of my songs with a band. that was a fun learning experience. Lookin' forward to doing that again. We had a great time. On our way back through, we stopped in St. Louis and caught the Cardinals/Astros game. It was a great game!

While in Iowa I'll be joining my church on a mission trip there. We'll be doing VBS in two communities in the morning and then youth revivals at night. Life is Crazy right now...Music First

A HUGE thank you to Love89 in Knoxville for playing my song "Hello". I had a meeting with a marketing and media team here in Knoxville and I'm getting pretty pumped about that. I'll be doing some pictures for the artwork in the next few days. Also, i'll have my own website that will soon follow. I'm also being played in Middlesboro, KY on WFXY! The hardest part is being played on radio as an indie artist. God has opened so many doors that i'm completely floored by it.

I've been slammed that last couple of months with all thats going on. We're restructuring our church leadership which means more responsibilities. Also, i've been playing church league softball on two different teams which means games 3-4 nights a week. Life has been crazy. i'll be heading to iowa at the end of July. Life has been crazy!!!!

Just a quick little update. i'm on vacation in Navarre Beach, Fl. It's near Destin and Ft. Walton Beach. There are 14 people in this 3 bedroom condo. Good news, we have a big condo, bad news, I'm with three dudes in living room. So far its been a good trip. The weather isn't the greatest but I'm at the beach and not a work and don't care. Hoping for some sunny weather!

Well, yesterday I was in Nashville finishing up the vocals for my CD. Hopefully it will be done by mid June now. Its been a dream to work with songwriter Jason Cox and Casey Darnell lending a song, and producer and player Jon Newell. Those guys made this experience one I'll never forget. I was able to listen to one of the songs and man it just excited me so I cant wait for the rest of it to get here!!! This year is FLYING by!!!

What's been going on?

Church trips! I just came back from spending the night in a cave (Lost Sea Adventures), multiple trips to Nashville for this project, Destin FL (this Saturday!), Iowa and Poland to look forward to later on, VBS, lots of church league softball, worship leading and teaching, work, etc.

Well, things have been kinda crazy here lately. What's new right? Well I traveled down to Nashville a few weeks ago to meet with a guy who came highly recommended to me. So, i'm happy to say that i'll be recording my first solo CD. Pre-production begins tomorrow. I'm excited about this project. It has been 8 years in the making but for various reasons, God kept closing a door and this time, He's allowing me to walk through it. Please continue to pray for me during this process. My prayer is this, provide financially and open doors with this project. I'll keep you updated with pics and info as it becomes available.

Man, it's been awhile since i've posted. Life was been crazy here lately. It seems I'm in the routine of work, church, etc. Part of me likes routine, but i'll be honest...this routine is getting old. I feel like God is trying to teach me something. I HATE it. I'm at a place where I'm not happy just to be honest. i'm not happy with work and sometimes i'm just not happy with Life. I know that sounds harsh but, that's just me being transparent.

On a side note, i just came from Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters in Andrews, NC. It was a great retreat for our students and I needed it as well. Go google it and take your youth group there. It was amazing!

I could really use your prayers right now. Things are happening so fast and I'm not having the time to process things so..please say a prayer for me. Thank you guys for continuing to stop by and check out my page.

Just wanted to update real quick. I'm currently in Orlando Fl right now. I couldn't turn down cheap tickets so i'm here. I flew in last night around 9 and landed at our hotel at like 10ish. Drove around. We are VERY close to Downtown Disney and its pretty sweet. This morning, (in like an hour) i'm going to meet with the guys of Relevant Magazine. I'm pretty pumped by it. The rest of the day..not sure, could be mickey and minnie, but more likely it'll be Universal and Islands of Adventure.

Well, i hope everyone's new year is turning out to be a good one. Mine started off rough but is looking up. I'm pretty excited about the next few weeks. This coming week i'll be leading a retreat with our College and Career class and some high school students. So far we're at like 17 and counting so that should be good. The topic: Relationships! Then, Superbowl party for the youth. I dont know who i'll pull for. I like the Steelers but like Mr. Warner as well. Oh well.

I am going to Orlando!!! I'm pretty pumped. I'll be flying down Thursday after the Superbowl for a few days to get away and chill out. I can't wait to just get away. I haven't had a vacation in a LONG time but this really isn't a vacation. It'll be cool though. I'm pumped! Hope all is well. Any trips in your future?

Well, i'm in the middle of a busy couple of days and figured I'd blog a bit about my Thursday. Yesterday, was not a good day. You probably dont know this but i've been trying to lose weight...I've lost about 11lbs and climbing. I've adjusted things (i.e. cooking) and then exercising. Well, I had a doctor's appointment yesterday. I'm 26 years old having chest pains so i got a trip to get an EKG. Well, i walked into the heart center at U.T. medical center, and felt REALLY out of place....I'm dying...but i'm freaking 26 years old and the people in there were like 60+. I found out my blood pressure is higher than normal. That's not good....and i have a slow heartbeat. Craziness...

Fast Forward....I'm driving to work...when this guy thinks he can "beat" me at the light...well, he lost. my little 2006 toyota won...or lost depending on how you look at it. So, as we're standing there waiting on the cop...i'm still wearing the bracelet from my "outpatient testing" he says..."what's the bracelet for...I said well sir, i just found out that I have high blood pressure and just had an EKG." the look on his face was AWESOME. He was like son i'm sorry this happened...i know this didn't help. NOPE, SURE DIDN'T!

What a great worship service yesterday. I'm in awe of what God did today. It was incredible the way that God worked through our service. Our worship pastor had no idea what the sermon was on and our pastor preached an incredible sermon and it flowed well with the music and all.

Last night, our youth meeting went great. For the past few months, the students wanted small groups so, i gave it to them back in September. I've not been teaching since then. So, last night was almost like starting over. I've been at the church for a year now. Last night we talked about prayer and the students responded well. We had 25+ students and adults last night. It was pretty sweet! This week could be kinda busy....Nothing tonight, jv basketball game tomorrow, wednesday leading worship, Thursday i'll be watching the National Championship game, Friday pretty laid back after work, Saturday night we're having a Parent/Student/Volunteer meeting. So, it's going to be busy. I've been listening to alot of Podcasts lately. I'm sure you'll be hearing more about that...Who am I listening to??? Mark Driscoll, Clayton King, and Dr. Ergun Caner. Who is pouring into your life right now????

WoW...well last night we said goodbye to memories. It was a year of change. For some we said goodbye to love, goodbye to friends, and goodbye to memories. Memories that we just wanted to let go and memories that we're not ready to let go. Last night we said hello to possibilities. Possibilities of change, hope, life, love, career, and future. I'm often motiviated at the beginning of a new year. I dont know what the future holds, but I do know WHO holds it. I'm motivated by what could have been and moved to the thoughts of what SHOULD be and finding my place in that. I'm only 26 years old and this year i'll say hello to 27. I've learned so much in the last few years but this last year was a great learning opportunity. I learned alot about my career, my faith, friends, love...or the lack there of. Relationships are just stressful.

I dont like resolutions and this year, i'm not making one. We simply make them and in a few weeks, if that, we've broken them and we're in the same place we are always in. So...here's what i'm excited about

I'm excited about what 2009 brings. I want to travel and see more of the world. I want to do things that are random and spontaneous. I want to laugh more. I want to be a better person, a better friend, and better son. I want to be more creative. I want to start a band. I want to be a part of a movement. I want to make a difference. I don't want to sit on the sidelines of life and watch. I want to play. I want to be in the game. I want my life and my time to count. I want to make a dent in this world. I want to leave a mark on people. I want to be an influence. I want to continue to find my place in this epic that God has been painting and orchestrating since time began. He has placed all of us in it and its OUR choice to make. Its our choice to make to be active and involved in where He is working.

My hope for 2009 is that i'm in the center of His will and His plans....

I'm realizing I'm a horrible blogger. I've been inconsistant for several months. Eh, who cares...its my blog!

Things have been pretty crazy here lately. I've had work obligations and church obligations. That will hopefully be slowing down soon. i'm so excited about the opportunity to stop and slow down this week. Last year, i only had Christmas off. Which was nice but wasn't much at all. I mean I drove home, spent the night, and came back. This year, i get the day after off!!! So i have a long weekend and I'm pretty thankful for that. We just landed our Christmas Bonus and that was a blessing. I've only been with the company a year and 3 months and man, it was great. I am grateful. I went to our annual meeting and it was pretty impressive to hear our "second in command" open the thing up with an incredible prayer! I work for a bank and we are "thanking" God for the Banks Success!! WOW!!!! Then the next day, our President sends an email to every employee and tells them that he hopes the find the meaning of Christmas and is pushing Christ. WoW!

This morning at church was our Music Christmas Program. It was great. We song the classic songs and I had the privilage to do a skit with a good friend named Travis. It went great!!! I'm about to head to our Children's Christmas Play in a hour or so. I'm just holding on til Wednesday. I'm ready to go home and see family. I'm ready to go home and celebrate the gift that was given over 2000 years ago...Which is Christ the Lord!

It's Beginning to look A Lot like Christmas!!!

Hello,

It's Sunday and i haven't blogged in forever. Life's been kinda crazy at the moment. Isn't always at Christmas time though? My thankgsiving was good and here we are pushing close to Christmas. This weekend was nice, nothing planned. I did go to Pigeon Forge on Saturday night to see my friend Kyndra and her husband David and there little girl Kyliee. Kyliee warmed up to me pretty good. At first, she was scared but then as time went on...she was totally into me. I got to hold her and snuck a kiss. She's like one or two years old. This coming week, i have a doctors appointment which i'm kinda excited about. Yes, you read that right. I am excited about going to the doctor. I'm off on Tuesday for a shopping day. Next weekend, Friday....party, Saturday...party, Sunday...party. All Christmas parties. Can't wait.

I lead worship this morning. I was NERVOUS! I don't normally get nervous...well that's a lie i do get nervous but this time was different. it turned out pretty good. So, life is good. Thanks for still checking my blog out. I've noticed that there are some new readers and so that's cool. Just sorry i haven't posted alot lately.

So, it has been awhile since i've blogged. Call it laziness and quite frankly i didn't have much to say. This past weekend was a great one....I took my students to Hearts on Fire youth conference in Gatlinburg. I took 22 people and God rocked our world. I hope He did for the students but that trip was more for me than i think it was for them. We heard Dave Edwards, Sean McDowell (son of Josh McDowell), and Dr. Ergun Canner. Man, Canner brought it and i'm still processing it. Ergun challenged me pretty good. Life is going well right at the moment. I'm learning daily. Knoxville is still treating me well as are all the people i've gotten to know. Not sure if i said this yet but i have a new roommate....Micah Deaver. He's a pretty cool guy. I didn't "know" Micah that well but go to know him as he came to NGC and then we became good friends. This guy loves Jesus and loves people so, it's been a great fit. if you are in Knoxville call me! I'd love to see some of you. Thanksgiving is almost here and i can't wait to go home and enjoy it! What are you guys thankful for????

Well alot has went down since my last post. I'm still getting over the fact that this guy went around the world. That was a BIG deal to me. We have a new President. So, i'm not going to say who I voted for not the place for that, but I will say that I am lifting him, his family, his soon to be administration, and this country up in prayer.

So, Friday night after work (about 6:50) I headed down to Atlanta, Ga. That was a LONG ride by myself. My brother's birthday was this past weekend and so i went down to see them. It was alot of fun. The ride down was painful b/c i was pretty tired. Especially hitting ATL and wanting to rip my eyes out. They were burning pretty bad. After little sleep from Friday night b/c my mom likes to SNORE, I got up and had coffee (i'm drinking more coffee now), showered and enjoyed my mom's delicious breakfast. It's been several months since i've enjoyed that. We headed into Athens to shop hitting several stores before enjoying a meal at Outback. It was nice visiting with them but I was ready to be back in Knoxville!!! So, it's monday as i type and i'm glad to be off work today. I figured i'd stay in ATL longer but there was really no point. So, i came back. What's on the agenda today...fro trim, food, tv, internet, movies, who knows and who cares!! I'm off tomorrow to for Veterans Day. Thanks to those who served!!!

Well, our final day has come to an end. Yesterday finished up our times in the schools. I sat in three classes yesterday. I played guitar in all classes and sang. I told the students about music in East Tennessee, Nashville, and Memphis. I had one kid in one class after singing 2 Christian songs Open the Eyes and Washed by the Water. It was pretty sweet to hear a kid ask me what my inspiration was and if I was a Christian and a very STRONG catholic area. In between the schools and the concert last night I was able to do some shopping. It was fun. I bought a watch. It looks pretty sweet. Also, it was fun walking the city and passing out flyers to advertise the concert and kids from the schools were walking by and saying hello. It was cool. This place is so dark and to see these kids smiling at us as we walked by. Our work is coming to a close and today we will be prayer walking, meeting with the mayor of the city, and then having a special dinner tonight with the church. I will be leading in music and Josh will be preaching. Say a prayer. WE will be leaving at 11:00-12:00Midnight and will have been up over 30 hours. Say a prayer for travel.

In SChools again...Poland is fun.

What a great day so far!!! It's around 2:00ish here in poland making it 8:00am in the States. This morning was by far the coolest. We went into different rooms and talked about ourselves (introductions) and then we each talked about the city of KNoxville, school, entertainment, and culture. I took a guitar this time. I shared with students about the music scence in Tennessee from East Tennessee (bluegrass) to Nashville (Country) to Memphis (blues and Elvis). Then I shared with them what I did for the church in student ministry and Music. They asked me to play so I played Open the Eyes of My Heart and Washed By The Water. The coolest thing about the music was the teacher asked us to put the words on the board and 50+ students were singing Open the Eyes of my heart AND Every MOve I make....It was a beautiful moment. I was able to explain the meaning of the students as well. We were in 3 classes and every class they wanted me to do more music. There were students who were recording me as well. That was alittle weird.

As I type this we're about to head to the park and put on some games with Children. I'm hoping for alot of kids. Not getting adjusted to sleep and all. We're all pretty tired and ready to come home. Ok, so here is 2 posts....Church went well on Sunday. I played guitar one song and Travis sang two songs. It was neat again hearing the people sing Amazing Grace in their own language. Its going well here. Sunday night we were apart of a 2 hour Poetry and Music deal. It was pretty neat but we couldn't understand a thing. We had no translator. Monday was a busy day. We went into two classes at the school. We had 17 year olds in one class and 18 year old people in the other. First class was pretty rough and the second went great. Once we left there we went to another city by train. It was a 1 hour train ride north. It was a big city. We did alot of shopping and it was pretty sweet. We met up briefly with some missionaries from Maryville,Tn who are here. Tomorrow, we are back in the schools for three classes and then we play in the park with kids. Please keep praying for us and i'll have plenty of photos.

I'm writing this at 9:30am on Sunday...3:30am Knoxville time. Things are going well. Yesterday we had a great breakfast of ham and cheese, cereal, and toast. Then we went into the city and passed out flyers. This placed is steeped in the Catholic tradition and so alot of people did not want our flyers. But, the younger generation and middle aged women were receptive. It was neat. We walked all around the city handing these things out. The city was pretty neat. We came back for a late lunch that consisted of Pork Burgers, Potatoes, and Cabbage. It was actually really good. Two hours later we had ANOTHER meal...they like to feed us. We had a meeting at the church for us. I was able to lead 2 songs in English and we sang Amazing Grace in our language while they sang in theres. It was beautiful. All in all, it was a good day 2..looking forward to church and the rest of the day.

We are HERE!!!!

We left Knoxville at 6:10 and landed in Detroit around 7:45 or 8:00. We landed early and went to grab some food at McDonald's. The airport in Detroit is pretty sweet. From there we went on the LONGEST FLIGHT EVER. Well, not really but it was like 7 hours. You CAN'T sleep on those flights. We were fortunate enough to have TVs in front of us and we could watch alot of movies or listen to music. They fed us 2 meals on the plan. We had Chicken and Curry which was GROSS. Then, we had a light breafast which wasn't so bad.We landed in Amsterdam early which made for a LONGER layover. We were in Amsterdam for 5 LONG and BRUTAL hours. Just about everybody slept. Then we were on our way to Berlin. Berlin from what we saw was a really pretty city. It's late Autumn here and the leaves are turning and its really nice. We've been up for 34-35 hours. We were tired and slept pretty well when we actually go to sleep. I'll be posting pictures at the end. We had a pretty good Polish meal as well. Polish Sausage, ham n' eggs and cheese pasta like dish, Cabbage and sausage, and COKE!!! We had coke! I'll post more when I get a chance. Its Saturday around 12:00 as I post this....it's 5:58am in Knoxville. We're about to go walk around the city and pass out flyers. We will be having a meeting later and i'm told i'll be singing. Can't wait!

Its been several days since i've last blogged and for that, I apologize. Life has been crazy again but isn't it always. Since my last post I played in my first golf tournament. Thanks to Fruity, B, Philip, and Cope I learned how to play golf in college. I'm STILL horrible. I wish those guys were here for that tournament. I played with a team that I didn't really know. I knew one guy out of the 3. Need less to say, the other 2 carried our team. It was alot of fun and the money went to missions. We started our Wednesday night worship service called "Oasis". It seems to be going well. Its been fun leading worship. This Saturday I will be going to the UT Football game. I'm pretty pumped about that. I had a guy from work offer me a free ticket...you CAN'T turn that down!!! UT football is a BIG deal here in KNoxville and i'm pumped about going. So, can i say that I hate my internet?? Its been out so i'm typing this from a new hangout...Panera Bread. I've also picked up a third job for what little free time i have. I've noticed that alot of places are now doing checks on Blogs, Facebook, and Myspace, so i'll refrain from listing that place. If you have questions about it, ask. My schedule for the next few weeks is crazy. It consists of a trip to Atlanta (call you soon Brother), paintball, UT Game(s), paintball, worship leading, and Poland. Yea, it's crazy. So that should get you caught up on my life here lately.

The next question i've been thinking on lately, is what in the world is GOd teaching me. I think as of late, i've realized my lack of faith. I know how God speaks but it would be nice if it would be Audible or on the wall or something. Here lately i have dealt alot with discouragment and its hitting me on several different levels. I know things happen for a reason but its crazy how things happen and God breathes life into something and it's like He's just wanting to see how i'll react. I'll be honest, my first reaction is to question, "what are you doing" but then it goes to "WHY NOT NOW? and so on. Its led to frustration and disappointment. Then, i had a co-worker who happen to be reading their devotion and thought of me. The title, "Confronting Closed Doors". Now at first I was angry. When you are already angry or hurt, the last thing you want is people to give you unsolicited advice. I'm learning I'm really NOT a fan of unsolicitied advice. But, that's another story. It reads....

We cannot help feeling disappointed when a door of opportunity closes. But God will often prevent us from going forward so He can redirect our steps toward another wise pathway. What determines whether we partake of His great blessings is our reaction-will we beat against a barred door or look for a new openning? So that's what i'm doing. I've been working on this goal for several years now and I guess it still isn't time. So....a "new" openning is what I'm going for. Its in these times its hard to "trust in the Lord instead of our own understanding". So...sorry this turned out to be long but this is just where I am right now. Like or not...

Good Morning!! Wow, it's been a quick 3-day weekend but a good one. Mine started off driving home on Friday. I didn't really do anything on Friday night just spent the evening with the family. Saturday, I headed to Dillards and racked up on some clothes for work. I hate dress clothes but i couldn't beat the prices i got them for. Then, I went to a wedding. The wedding was nice. It was nice to see some people I hadn't seen in awhile. Then, it was back here to prepare for church on Sunday. Church went well and then a cookout on Sunday night. Monday I went to Dollywood and then to my music minister's house to watch Tennessee play UCLA. I was pretty ticked at the outcome. I won't even begin to vent here. I wouldn't want to bash Tennessee in how they GAVE a win to UCLA. I mean, they had a 3rd string QB. I won't begin to tell you that we should have scored on all the interceptions they gave us. I won't tell you that he threw 4 pics and we didn't capitalize on them. Nope, i won't even begin to vent, I'll just spare you.

Good morning! Praise the Lord it's Friday! I'm excited about this LONG weekend. I'll be going home tonight and back here tomorrow night sometime. My friend Jessica is getting married so i'll be going there to support her. It should be fun as well as good to see alot of people (i hope). Sorry that blogging has been random here lately, but i've been sick, busy, and just didn't feel like it :) I'm not sure what all i'm getting into this weekend. I DO know that Sunday at church we change our student ministry and that'll be good. I begin leading worship this Wednesday night and i'm pretty excited about it.

Life's been crazy here lately. But, isn't always. You know the older I get I remember thinking, i'll slow down when i'm older. Yea, that hasn't happened and shows no end in sight. I'm still working my tail off. It's cool though. I've been battling some stupid sickness here lately. It's almost been a week. Last night was rough, I woke up at like 2:30am and couldn't really go back to sleep. I came home and got ready to watch Season 1 of the Office (I know some will be proud), and I slept through them. My sleep is catching up to me. I'm getting excited about the upcoming weeks. God's doing some crazy things in my life and i'm amazed at the people He's placed in my life right now.

I'm excited to go home briefly this weekend. My friend Jessica is gettin' married. So it'll be good to see her and the gang. It's a LONG weekend which is great!!! I can't wait. Sorry this is random and all but the meds are kickin' in. Good Morning! WOW, its been a few days and i've been under the weather. I still am but, I wanted to make a quick post. The weekend was good but busy. Friday night, I chilled at home. A good friend from N.C. came in and is here for the weekend. He's looking for a job and if he finds one, hopefully i just found a roommate. I don't think he's leaving anytime soon b/c he's brought his T.V. so thats kinda funny. Saturday consisted of going to the mall. I had 5 Guys that night with a group and it wasn't half bad!!! I liked it. Another friend Ishmael came in and spent the night on Saturday night and preached at my church. Man, he did such a good job!! Well, i'm out. It's time to go to work and i feel like junk!

Good morning....Well, i'm still alive. I'm in the middle of my crazy week and it's not been as hectic as I thought. I mean it's been crazy but its going well. We won our second softball game with a ten run rule again! We were the team in the league that everybody probably laughed at. We were "used" to getting beat by 10 but now we're pretty competitive. So, that was good. We had a leadership meeting last night and that went well. We planned the rest of the year and next year so, that worked out great.

You know, God has and is completely rocking my world. I had a RANDOM and UNEXPECTED phone call Monday night that has left me saying, "Lord, what are you doing?" I have a HUGE HUGE HUGE opportunity that has literally fell into my lap. So, i need your prayers. NO I"M NOT LEAVING MY CHURCH OR MY JOB!! But, I do need your prayers. I need you to be specific in this as well. I need you to pray that God would move across people's hearts to help me raise some money to help out in my ministry. Good morning! Well, my whirlwind of a week began on Friday. After work I took about 27 people to the Smokies game which was alot of fun. They lost but the fireworks was pretty sweet after the show. Saturday I had an unexpected surprise that my mom was coming to Dollywood. So, Saturday I spent the day at Dollywood which was good. Sunday, was a LONG day. It started with church and my doing some music, afterwards I had lunch with the missionaries that were were there and it was off to the pool party for our Sunday School class, then back to church where i preached. It went well. The rest of the week looks like this: rehearsal tonight for Wednesday and then a softball game at 8:00, Leadership meeting on Tuesday, Church Wednesday and i think it'll be calming down. SO....Life is BUSY at the moment.

We Won!!!

Good Morning! Softball season started yesterday and I'm HAPPY to report we got our first win last night. I played third base and got 2 outs I believe in the field and then batting I went 2 for 4. I popped out and grounded out and then singled twice. I don't know WHY i was the "Clean up" batter when my boy BRIAN HENDERSON hit Belmont's first homerun!!!! That was pretty sweet. We went down in the first 2-1 and Brian hit like a 2 run shot which had us all going crazy. So, last night was good. I'm slightly sore but life is good.

Today, i plan on chilling and preparing for Wednesday night. I'll also be preaching Sunday night so that'll be fun. I'm happy to report that I'm also doing "Dave Ramsey" and i am on track with my budget and one bill WILL be paid off today. This stuff is actually fun! Who knew? Its Softball time in Tennessee

Good morning! Does the weekend REALLY have to end? I guess so. But, the good thing is that I get a day off from work in less than a month. Love working at a bank. I've got a pretty busy week coming up. It starts today after work I'll be going to our first Softball game of the Fall league. Tuesday, not sure. Wednesday is church and then Friday is the Smokies game. i'll be preaching on Sunday night so that'll be fun. The next several weeks are going to be busy. I'm SO glad its Friday. It seems this week has flown by. I'm hoping August will fly by as well. I've got ALOT going on and my schedule is filling up pretty quickly. What's on tap for this weekend. Well, i dont really have plans which is good. I know that I'll be at church Sunday and that's about it. Its getting closer to Tennessee Football and that's cool. so, hope you guys have a good one.

Good morning its Wednesday and its crazy how time is just flying. Its been a busy two days at work. It's back to the grind again today. Today will more than likely be a long day from work to the church. This is the last wednesday before we pick up our rising middle schoolers so I'm pretty excited about that. My group will be growing :)

Good Morning! Hope all is well. Things here are...ok. It was HARD going back to work after being on the mission trip last week. Its times like those that i REALLY miss being full-time. Yesterday I was pretty busy at work so i'm sure that made it hard as well. I have some catching up on some stuff to do but that's ok. Last night Iwent back to VISION through Corryinton Church (sp). It was pretty good last night. The worship was great and the sermon was good. August is looking like its going to be a busy month. I have weddings and several church things on top of softball starting up in less than a week.

Hello Hello,

I'm writing from our hotel in St.Louis on our way to Iowa. The trip wasn't so bad. I was able to sleep most of the way. The drive has been pretty boring. We drove across TN to Nashville and headed north in to Kentucky and Illinois. I'm pretty pumped about this trip. I'll be leading worship Sunday morning, concert Sunday night, leading worship Monday-Wednesday night, and a concert on Thursday. Heading home and leading on Sunday Night at Belmont Heights.

I'll try to blog and keep you up to date on all that's going on. Say prayer for us.

Good morning. It's been a whirlwind past few days. I'm finally home now. After a few days in Panama City Beach for camp, 12 hour ride, then 4 hour ride to Louisville, KY for American Idol auditions, now, it's back to work and then getting ready for Iowa on Friday. I'm completely exhausted! Idol didn't work out in my favor this year and that's cool. You can't really go into thinking you are going to make it b/c there are thousands of people there and the chances are slim. But, it's all good. I'm back now. I went to a worship service last night and it was pretty good. I really enjoyed it. Might hit one tonight. I'm tired and I have to go to work...Thanks for reading and keeping up with me that past few days and all the text messeges were great. OH, i'm over 6,000 hits!

AMERICAN IDOL

WoW, i've never been so tired. Last Sunday through Friday (yesterday) I was in Panama City Beach, FL for Youth Camp. It was a good trip. Traveling down was pretty bad. The weather was pretty bad. It poured the whole time! But, it was good. The week went well also. I lead worship for the week too. I'll be posting about some of the stuff I learned from camp. The group from WLBC was great as was my group. I was proud to be their Youth Pastor! I came home about 11:00pm Friday night and left about 9:00am on Saturday morning.

I'm in Louisville, KY right now. I'm here to audition for American Idol. I'm pretty excited about this. Excited because I think i'm gonna win, well no but i'm excited to say that I auditioned...again. I think it'll be fun. I am up here with my friend Travis from Belmont Heights. While registering, we were approached by a man from Fox19 out of Cincinnati, Ohio. He interviewed both of us. It was pretty tight! We interviewed and sang the songs we were going to be auditioning with. It was pretty cool and he gave us alot of advice which was quite weird. But, very much welcomed. You can GOogle FOX19 Cincinnati and see if we made it on TV Sunday morning and most of the day. I think it'd be cool. I'm pretty jacked about it...Stay tuned I'll be try to blog while up here in Louisville. I must say that the drive from Knoxville to Louisville was the most BORING trip.

Good morning. It's friday and i'm pumped. It's my last day until the 22nd! I'm heading to Panama City Beach Sunday takin' my youth group and leading worship for camp. So, i'm pretty excited about that. SO, blogging next well NOT happen. Don't be sad. You can keep coming back and reading this post if you want. it only drives my numbers. haha. Speaking of numbers I'm pretty close to 6,000 hits. FOr some of you, that's not much, but considering I've only had this thing since last September, I think that's pretty good. I'll let you know when I hit 6,000. Pray for me next week and for the kids at this camp. Pray that i'd be able to lead well, and pray that things go well for me to go to Louisville and audition. I'm pretty going into it KNOWING that I won't make it. I mean, in Atlanta last year...16,000+ people and they took like 50. So, the numbers dont look good, but i'll go and do my best so just pray for the Lord's favor. THANKS! I'll blog on Idol before I go and hopefully while i'm up there.

God wrote people with messy lives into His story. The Bible is full of very real people who had very messy lives. In fact, almost every person in the Bible led a messy life. For example, Job's life took a messy turn, the story of Esther, David with Bathsheba, Peter, Paul killing Christians, etc.

Think about your own family. I know most people are slightly embarassed by someone in their family. Maybe they are awkward or just embarassing to be around. There's probably someone in your family that everyone just turns their head to. Well, take a look at Jesus' family. I mean the Creator of the Universe wasn't born into royalty and that's one thing I love about Jesus. I mean, He could have been born into some rich palace and dominated but he came through a poor couple. He could have been born in a mansion but He choose a boring barn. God intentionally connected Jesus to His ancestors. He divinely orchestrated it through history fully knowing the outcome before it ever happened.

So remember this, know matter how messy your life gets. God is in control and wants to be in control of your life. And on top of that, He still wants to use it all. The good the bad and the ugly.

Good morning, So, i'm looking for a new guitar. If you have any suggestions, i'd love to hear them. I'm looking for a second guitar to back up my Martin. So, it's going to be a fairly inexpensive guitar...compared to the Martin. Love to hear you ideas for you players out there.

I'm completely blown away and how many people have visted my blog. I started this little thing back in September and I've had close to 6,000 people read it. For me, that's crazy. I went home over the weekend as you know and had a cousin tell me that he read my blog. He made me think as well, so, let me go on record and say this, "I don't HATE my day job". Would I rather be doing something else, sure but I dont hate it. I'm grateful for it. I have a great boss. This is not me sucking up either. He probably doesn't even know this exists anyway. So there!

I will officially be going to Louisville to audition for American Idol. I'm pretty excited about it. You pretty much go up there expecting not to make it. I mean, you do your best but the chances aren't really on your side. In Atlanta last year, there were over 18,000 (i think) and they only took like 50-100. Included in that is the sorry people they put through for ratings. SO, it'll be fun none-the-less. Good experience and all. Good Monday morning. I do NOT want to go back to work today. It was a good few days off. I went home thursday and just hung out with the family. On Friday, there was a huge family gathering in Bryson City, NC at Deep Creek. We had around 45 people there. There was alot but it was good to see family. Then, Saturday I ran some errands and had dinner with Scott and Kristie which I hadn't seen in awhile along with Mannie and Jessica. It was nice. Church on Sunday was good as well. I'm slightly jealous that my family is on vacation this week...WITHOUT me. Yea, not bitter. This week I hope will fly by b/c there is a LOT going on with me. Going to Panama City with a bunch of teenagers and leading worship for that, Iowa, American Idol as well. Yea, I said it.

I'll be going to Louisville, Ky to audition again Lord willing. Say a prayer for that the Lord would find favor. Its a LONG shot but hey, it'll be another fun experience to try it out.

Good morning. It's Tuesday and this is going to be a short week. I'm pretty pumped about a short week. I get Friday off thanks to America!! So, I'll be going home!! Yep, there is a huge family thing going on at Deep Creek in Bryson City. There be over 40 people there so, it'll be good to be with some family. I'm quite excited about that.

I'm also gearing up for my trips this month. It's quite crazy...Going home, Camp in Panama City Fl, Hopefully to Louisville, Ky (tell ya why later), and then mission trip to Iowa. I'll be doing some concerts and leading worship out there. I'm pretty pumped about that as well. I need to get going for work. Hopefully you enjoy the new pic up top. I put up a bunch on my myspace page. but for now, enjoy this one above.

It's been a few days since i've posted some thoughts about life and what all is going on in my life. I feel the need to share that now. I'm really feeling at home here in Knoxville. I mean, i miss Canton but i'm liking East Tennessee life. I've seen all 4 seasons here and I'm digging it. The Summers have been hot and I hear it's only going to get hotter. The fall, well...is INCREDIBLE!!! UT Football is insane. Winter is not too shabby and the spring is nice as well. The city, well i'm learning new things about the city and area every week. At first I felt like the new kid in school not knowing where to start and such but it's turned out pretty good.

The Bank job. Well, it's a bank and it's a job. I'm not crazy about it but it is paying the bills and for that I'm thankful. I really feel I could be back in full-time ministry. I like the church i'm serving in. They allow me the opporturnity to invest in the lives of their students and do something I love...lead worship. God has been giving me a passion to lead His people. I love it!! I pray He continues to open the doors to allow me to do that. I have met alot of great people at this church and I'm excited about who all He has brought my way. I miss the flexibility of ministry. This probably seems like i've been rambling but i've attempted to type this thing now...4 times and each time the internet goes down. I've had some great conversations with my pastor and others here lately. Asking tough questions, what makes us different, what makes our church different than the rest, what can we do to change things or to grow or what can we do in our personal lives. TOUGH stuff...But it stretches us. God has been teaching and molding me here lately. It's been great, it's been tough, its been difficult but i'm thankful for his Grace that allows me to Be.

Good Wednesday morning. Softball is officially over for us. The Co-ed went out last week. The men's team played on Monday at 6:00 we won the first game and played at 7:00. We played the best team in the league. We took them 7 innings and had it as close as 9-11 but it wasn't enough. I've never been so sore in my life...well on second thought. Life will hopefully settle down for a bit. So, that's a good thing. I'm pretty excited about the 4th of July. I will be going home and then camp is just around the corner.

I'm pretty excited. Yesterday, I had a friend come in and took some pictures of Todd who is found on the side to the right, and she took some shots of me. She started dabbling in photography and is doing pretty well. I was pretty impressed with the shots and you'll be seeing those pretty soon. I needed some new pics for the blog and myspace and such. SO, it'll be nice. I'm also recording on Tuesday. I'm a big fan of craigslist and that's how that came about. Random thoughts this morning i know. Sorry my blogging hasn't been so consistant. I just haven't had time and not too much has been going on. WEll, i'm rambled enough, time to get ready for work...BOOOOoooooo

It's been a few days since i've blogged so I figured I was due. It's not that I didn't want to, its that I didn't have alot of time. Softball season has come to a close for the Co-ed team. We lost...convincingly (sp). It was brutal. We lost to a team we beat a few weeks ago. They stacked there girls this time. They could ALL hit. We lost 20-2. Yea, pretty bad. I played in the men's league on Monday night and we lost pretty bad which really isn't rare. That team has come to lose...quite a bit but NOT on Thursday night! We went up 6-1 in the second and then 8-1 and then we blew our lead. It was 9-9 and then we were down, 11-9. We rallied and made it like 15 or 16-9 or something like that. It was alot of fun to come back and win. We play the same team on Monday in the tournament and hopefully, we'll win!

On the good news front, I got a promotion!! I had a title change! However, the bump wasn't much AT ALL but it's ok I guess. Its better than nothing. So, i'll take it. I'm happy I'm finally being compensated for what I'm doing/been doing. My weekend is going to be pretty chill. Well, my Saturday is that is. I'll be relaxing and doing laundry and just hanging out. I am leading worhip in the morning and evening services at West Lonsdale Baptist Church. Excited to worship with them again. I'll be working on camp stuff this weekend and stuff as well. it's not much longer!!! I'm ready to head to camp for a few days...in Panama City Fl!

Good morning. What a weekend. Friday was the VBS Family Night, Saturday I took a nice long nap and I don't nap, and Sunday I preached and went to Dollywood and then to my music minister's house to catch the U.S. Open and NBA Finals. It's been a really long week and i'm glad it's over. It's time to chill out a bit. Camp is in like 3 weeks. I'm pretty excited about that. ONe week at camp and away from work will be GREAT! I can't wait. If you guys know of a good job, let me know.

VBS IS OVER!

GOod morning. It's friday and VBS is ALMOST OVER!!!! Well, it's practically over except for Family Night tonight. I don't have to do anything really...at least I dont think so. SO...I'm pretty pumped about that. I am preaching this Sunday at church. SO, if you are in Knoxville, it starts at 11:00am. VBS turned out pretty good for the youth. We had a great turnout. We averaged around 53 people for the week and that's great. I think we (adults) did a good job trying to develop some relationships with the students. I hope you guys have a good day and weekend. I'll be posting more next week. This week, my days started at 6:30 and ended with me getting home close to 11. So, i'm getting old!

CRAZY VBS WEEK

Wow, what a long but good week it is. Our VBS is going on this week. It started Saturday night with a cookout and runs Sunday through Friday night. It's made for some pretty long days. Going to work, then home, then to church, and back home. It's been long but we're seeing a great amount of kids. We had over 200 total last night. The students, we went from 48 on Sunday, 53 on Monday, and last night we had 57. Considering I normally have 20+ students, it's pretty incredible. I'm encouraged by the turnout. Plus, these are some rough kids. INNER CITY church, so it's good to be able to invest in their lives! I'll be able to breathe on Friday.

Wow, what a weekend. So, here's my recap....Friday night, my mom and cousins came in to town. So, we hit the mall up and then to eat. It was a good night. Saturday, my brother made it in (Friday night too) with his family and we hit up the Knoxville Zoo. it was actually alot of fun. The zoo is quite nice. After than, I went to the kick off our VBS and then back to have dinner with the family. Church on Sunday and then start of VBS. We had 191 on Sunday night. Which from what i hear is great for the first night. I had 48 people! That's alot and i'm worn out. It's only Sunday. We have a few more nights.

Prayer requests:

1.) Strength/heatlth
2.) kids/students come to know the Lord
3.)All the workers involved.
4.) West Lonesdale Baptist Church....125+ salvations in Korea and counting!!!!!!

GOod morning! It's early Wednesday morning in East Tennessee and it's HOT. I have a feeling that's going to be the theme for the next few months. It's not officially summer but, its going to be in the 90s today. Have I said that I wish I was full-time at the church? Not sure, but if i haven't I wish I was. Lookin' forward to my family coming in this weekend for my birthday. Sorry blogging has been slow. Nothing special to be blogging about just busy for the next few weeks.
