I love this time of year! The tempature is falling, Christmas is in the air and pretty soon we'll see all the top ten, twenty-five, fifty, and hundred moments of this year on about every channel. This year has absolutely flown by. I had my Christmas party for work. I received a gift card for Target (unexpectedly) and a gift card to Red Lobster. Pretty cool.
Christmas is soo special. I think Christmas is the most romantic holiday. I mean, you have about a month to get in the spirit and stay there. Everybody is preparing for this one day. I know Valentine's is for Love and all, but there's something about the Holiday season. It pulls on our hearts strings. The holiday season is a time to be with the ones you love. I mean, on President's Day we aren't screaming for that special someone. Only Bankers and governement workers are thanksful for that. I am reminded of so many memories of Christmas. I can think of many of the gifts I received as a kid and I'm sure you can too. Some were good and some were bad. I received both. I hope I have never given bad gifts. This morning I was really challenged with the idea of gifts. We hear the phrase its better to give than to receive. I like receiving gifts. If were are honest though, there is a bit of selfishness in us because we want gifts too. But I was challeneged by this thought, the gift of Jesus is the best gift we could ever receive. That is the gift that keeps on giving. Think of some of your gifts in the past. They don't keep on giving. They were cheap imitations or knock offs of the real thing. The gift Jesus offers is not the imitation it's his best. It's his son. What will you do with the gift Jesus has offered you?
That was the thought that I've been wrestling with. This season at the start we're so excited. Now, we're a few weeks out and people are stressed, schedules are full, and we're about to have a nervous breakdown. Well, relax, you can't out give God and so that should take the pressure off.
I'm out!
