To be Absent From the Body is to Be Present Before the Lord

These are the words that have been in my head the past 24 hours. I'll explain. I was all excited about my weekend. I had some plans for Saturday which included a soccer game, dinner with friends, and playing bass at my new church. I was pretty excited. However, I received a phone call incredibly early on Saturday morning...4:15 to be exact that my best friend's 21 year old brother was killed in a car wreck. Kevin passed away from a car crash early on Saturday morning. Big Kev...that's what i called him. I didn't really know him that well, but what i did know is that he had a heart of gold and smiled...ALOT. Everytime I was around that guy, he was smiling. I know that guy has impacted alot of people. I know this b/c in 24 hours, I've been in 4 different states and was able to see his family and a ton of his friends in person. With me being in KNoxville and starting a new job on Tuesday, i didn't think it'd be possible. But, I was able to make the trip down. This is something one can never be prepared for, but we comfort that Christ is present in this situation and was not caught off guard. Kevin was a Christian and is rejoicing in Heaven right now. I'm sure he's settling in well right now. So big kev, you impacted this kev and i'm grateful...keep smiling.
