Good morning. It's Monday and i'm officially tired! What a great weekend! I had the opportunity to take my student ministry to Ridgecrest Conference Center in Black Mountain, NC. My pastor's former church puts on a Youth Conference and it's one of those things that they've always done and so, when i came on board it was already on the books. Now, i'd never heard of it so, i wasn't really sure what to expect. But, it turned out to be pretty good. It was mostly churches in Maryville, TN and Knoxville. But, it was really good. The worship band was good as well. They were a group of guys called "Life Wide Open". They led worship and did a great job. The speaker was a guy named Jon Gillis or John Gillis. None-the-less, he brought it!!!! It was awesome.
His messege for the weekend was simple. It started off with him talking about how everyone having a fascade. It's like i've posted before, we all have a certain mask that we tend to put on. He told us that God can see through that fascade and asked us, "Is your heart in it?" If it is, good, if it isn't get out. Pretty bold but i think true. God had a major plan through out history and it's to know him, to be known by him, and to make him known. He will accomplish his plan. The heart of his messege was that to be a follower of Jesus is so much more than saying a prayer. It was great. He leads a bible study at local church in Knoxville on Tuesday nights. For more info, let me know. I'll be going to check it out.
My students I think had a great time and really enjoyed the services. We had devotions at night and on the last night I was completely floored by some of there responses. People opened up and shared about what God told them and things of that nature. I was completey floored when a middle school girl who didn't want to go by the way told me in front of everyone that she wanted to become a Christian. So, on Saturday night, we wrestled up one more of the elect :) It was a great weekend. It will take me a few days to recover. I'll be leading worship in a joint worship service on Wednesday night. I can't wait!
